Lead Poisoning Prevention Education
PACC staff members are available to speak at day care centers, after schools programs, PTA meetings, tenant and block associations, churches and other community venues on the consequences and the prevention of lead poisoning. We also distribute informational brochures and materials from the Department of Health.

To set up an appointment call Hector Rivera at (718) 522-2613 x 21 or Ewart Bowie at (718) 783-3549 x 16.

Lead Testing
PACC staff and volunteers are certified by the Environmental Protection Agency as Dust Swipe Lead Technicians to perform lead dust testing in homes and apartments. We will come to your home or apartment to test for lead and within one week you will have the results. If you are an owner of a multi-family building requiring certification a charge of $50 per apartment will be charged. To make an appointment, call Hector Rivera at (718) 522-2613 x 21.

HPD Lead SAFE Work Practices
This eight-hour course is designed primarily for maintenance personnel and other individuals who perform repairs in residential dwelling units. Participants will learn and practice the proper procedures to reduce the risks associated with lead based paint while performing routine maintenance and repair tasks.

Local Law 1
This six hour course covers all areas associated with NYS Housing Laws; primarily focused on lead hazard reduction and the laws which apply to maintaining a safe and healthy home.

Lead Awareness
This six-hour course provides a detailed overview of lead poisoning and hazard reduction presenting intervention strategies and prevention techniques.

These trainings are geared to educate participants in the areas necessary to maintain safe and healthy homes. Upon completion of each training, all participants will be certified in the area specific to the course completed and will receive a certificate via postal services.
If you would like more information or would like to schedule a training at your place of employment, call Ewart Bowie (718) 783-3549 x 16.

Safe House Program
PACC has integrated a safe net system with the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH) titled Temporary Lead Safe Housing (DOHMH) with the Healthy Homes Initiative, which offers temporary housing for children and their families who are victims of lead poisoning. This program functions as a safe haven for children and their families while their homes are being restored to safe and healthy conditions.
